ADE, AAEA, and Arkansas IDEAS Offer Audio Journal to Arkansas Educational Administrators

The Arkansas Department of Education is committed to providing Arkansas educational leaders the best materials and quality programs in professional development. We are pleased to announce that ADE, AAEA, and Arkansas IDEAS will continue to provide superintendents and building principals with a copy of Audio Journal executive briefing each month, either as a CD or as an MP3 audio download for iPod, iPad, Smartphone, etc. Please contact Jim Cisek jcisek@audioed.com for permission to download the audio to MP3.

Further, we are working with the staff of the Audio Journal to personalize and customize the content exclusively for Arkansas educational leaders. Beginning in September, in addition to the national executive briefing, featuring the biggest names in education, business, and management each month, we will provide updates from Dr. Tom Kimbrell, Commissioner of Education; Dr. Richard Abernathy, Executive Director of AAEA; and others about legislation, regulations, and items of interest to you. These audio updates will be found in an exclusive Arkansas web page in Arkansas IDEAS. If you have not registered (it is free) please do so now and also encourage all administrators in your district to do so. After you login to Arkansas IDEAS, click on My Courses and then click Library: Audio Journal. This course will contain the Audio Journal interviews, the Arkansas interviews, and assessments for professional development credit. The IDEAS course will be available to all Arkansas licensed educators.

To register for Arkansas IDEAS please go to www.arkansasideas.org. If you need assistance please contact your local education cooperative technology center coordinator or the Arkansas IDEAS help desk during normal business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. AAEA Mission, Vision and Goals

AAEA prides itself on being a professional association offering a full line of services, all critical to the success of today’s busy school administrator.

Prompted by a self-study process, the AAEA Board of Directors recently adopted a new mission and vision statement.

Goals were added to give focus to the Association’s work.

The Board’s intent was to create a plan document to guide the organization toward achievement of its vision while providing staff maximum freedom to innovate and lead the organization.

The mission statement is an expression of the Association’s reason for being. The vision describes what the future will be when goals are met and the mission is fulfilled.

This work provides standards of organizational behavior and reflects commitment to meeting demands of a new era.

Mission:
The Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators is a united alliance of diverse school leaders and an effective force for the highest quality public education for all children. Our mission is to insure high standards of leadership by providing quality professional development, influencing education legislation and policy, stimulating and fostering support and building successful coalitions.

Vision:
AAEA’s vision is to be the primary resource for school administrators by promoting and providing leadership for the advancement of education, and by engaging in activities that foster a public understanding and support for quality education.

Goals:
•To provide programs and activities that focus on leadership development resulting in high levels of student achievement
•To impact laws, policies and regulations to improve the quality and value of education for all children
•To recognize and respect diversity and to build upon commonalities between the various constituent groups within AAEA to achieve mutual goals to benefit the students of Arkansas
•To be the professional home for all Arkansas school administrators by providing the resources and tools necessary for effective leadership that results in greater student achievement
•To be the connecting point and one-stop access for school leaders by providing a comprehensive website to bring news, information and advocacy on vital issues pertaining to education and children
•To be recognized and respected by state and federal policy makers as leaders in education and advocates for children
